
Rental Rules
Our goal is to ensure that your stay at Bluestar Lakefront Cottage rental is an enjoyable experience. The House Rules outlined below are in place to preserve the property and amenities for years to come. If you have questions please feel free to email us at info@bluestarlakefront.com
BLUESTAR LAKEFRONT COTTAGE - RENTAL RULES
PARTIES & CELEBRATIONS

ABSOLUTELY NO FIREWORKS ALLOWED
-
We do allow birthday, anniversary and retirement celebrations among the guests who have booked and are registered to stay at Bluestar Lakefront Cottage. WE DO NOT allow bachelor or bachelorette parties.

VISITORS & GUESTS
-
Only registered guests are allowed to sleepover on the premises. If you would like to entertain guests during your stay, simply text us to let us know when your guests will be arriving and departing.
SMOKING
-
Absolutely NO SMOKING of any kind INSIDE the cottage including cigarettes, marijuana, pipes or vapes. All smoking must be done on the front porch, on the back deck or in the yard.

Ashtrays have been provided in all areas.
-
PLEASE dispose of ALL cigarette butts in the ashtrays PROVIDED. If cigarette butts are found on the property you will lose your security deposit.
MUSIC & NOISE
-
We are music lovers so we understand that you will want to play music indoors and outdoors. Feel free to do so at a reasonable volume throughout the day. Once its 9:00p.m you should be the only one who can hear what is playing on premises. If any neighbours submit a complaint about your noice or music level you will lose your security deposit.
GARBAGE, RECYCLING & COMPOSTING

There are two bins located in the kitchen. One is labelled Garbage and one is labeled Recycling.

We have provided all garbage bags needed under the kitchen sink. Garbage & Recycling must be placed in clear white bags.

DO NOT USE BLACK GARBAGE BAGS or non-see through bags as our region does not accept them.

All glass, aluminum foil, cans, styrofoam and recyclable plastics can go into the Recycling bin.

Keep paper and cardboard to the side and place them separately (not in a bag) into the large bin by the toy shed at the end of your stay.

Once a garbage or recycling bag is full, please tie it up and place it in the large bin located beside the Toy Shed and latch the lid closed so that animals do not get in.

Unfortunately, the 1000 Islands Region does not have a composting program so please dispose of all food waste and used paper towel in the garbage.

At the end of your visit ensure that all of the waste receptacles are clear of any garbage and place all full or partial bags into the large garbage bin beside the Toy Shed. The bathroom garbage can be added to the kitchen garbage bag and taken out to the large outdoor bin.

DO NOT LEAVE FOOD, CANS, RECYCLING OR ANY GARBAGE OUTSIDE....it will attract animals.
INDOOR WATER USAGE
The cottage wastewater goes into a holding take that is located underground so we ask that you be mindful and conservative and not waste water or leave any indoor taps running unnecessarily.

The tap water is filtered well water and is safe for boiling food, washing dishes your hands and showering.

We do suggest that you use the water cooler provided for drinking water.

Extra water bottles can be found in the utility closet off of the second bedroom.
PETS, MESSES, ACCIDENTS & WASTE

We have provided dog waste bags which can be found on the shelf in the hallway above the coat hooks.
-
If your dog has an accident in the house use the Scout's Honor dog cleaner located under the kitchen sink.
-
If your dog is destructive please make sure you do not leave them unattended in the house.If the dog causes any damage to the house or furniture you will lose your security deposit.

PLEASE PICK UP AFTER YOUR DOG. If dog waste is found on the property after your departure you will lose your security deposit.

FIREPIT USE
-
The fire pit has been provided for your enjoyment. You will receive 1 free bin/bag of wood which will be placed by the fire prior to your arrival.

Additional bin/bags of wood can be purchased for $10 a bag. To purchase a bag of wood simply call or text us and we can drop off an additional bag. We accept cash, e-transfer, debit and credit (except American Express) on premises via a portable debit machine.

When you are done with your fire, please ensure that your fire is completely put out with no remaining embers at the end of the night. You can use the water bucket provided by filling it up at the water tap located at the side of the house and pouring over the fire. You can also fill the bucket with lake water.

WATERSHOES & LIFEJACKETS

Everyone MUST WEAR WATER SHOES in the lake. The bottom of the lake in this area is rocky in spots and some areas may have debris or zebra mussels shells that will cut the bottom of your feet.

It is the guests responsibility to ensure that you have the proper footwear for in the water.
-
Guests using our non-motorized recreational water devices MUST WEAR A LIFE JACKET that is the right size at all times NO EXCEPTIONS.
-
Life jackets are available onsite in the Toy Shed. Please ensure you wear the right size life jacket and ensure it is zipped and all jackets are done up before using the water crafts and floaties.

NO DIVING FROM THE SHORELINE OR THE DOCK INTO THE LAKE. IT IS NOT DEEP ENOUGH.

NON-MOTORIZED WATERCRAFT
If you are using any of the non-motorized watercrafts including the kayaks, canoe, inflatables, stand up paddle boards or pedal boat YOU MUST:

1) WEAR A LIFE JACKET

2) WEAR WATER SHOES
-
3) TAKE ONE OF THE ORANGE EMERGENCY KITS WITH YOU (its the law). The orange emergency kits are located in the Toy Shed.

THESE WATERCRAFTS ARE FOR ONSITE USE ONLY AND CAN NOT BE TAKEN TO OTHER LOCATIONS BY GUESTS

BBQ, SMOKER & PROPANE
-
The BBQ is located on the wrap around deck.Extra propane tanks are beside the Toy Shed.

BBQ Utensils can be found in the toy shed along with a BBQ lighter and BBQ buddy foil trays.
-
Please be sure to clean the grill when you are done using it. The brush is on the smoker.
-
If you would like to use the smoker you must bring your own smoker wood, bisquettes or pellets.
-
ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOU TURN THE PROPANE OFF WHEN YOU ARE DONE.
OUTDOOR DINING
We have provided dishwasher safe reusable plastic cups, wine glasses, plates, bowls and trays for outdoor use. Do not use glass cups, wine glasses & dinnerware outside to avoid broken glass on the deck and in the yard.

THE ACCIDENTS HAPPEN RULE
We know that accidents happens, so if anything small gets damaged, broken or lost during your stay through no fault of your own, just let us know and text us a picture and we will fix or replace it after you leave. Damage that is caused on purpose or as a result of neglectful behaviour will result in us keeping your security deposit.
